Many large organisations want to know that the contractors and sub-contractors they employ are compliant with health and safety legislation and many will not use organisation unless they can prove that they are. Proving to prospective clients that you practice good management of health and safety and that you have all the necessary systems in place is often done by being accredited with a H&S scheme. There are many organisations that provide health and safety accreditation and depending on the type of industry concerned one may be more appropriate than another.
